The Allure of Billionaire Heroes

Maya Rodale has been asking a number of romance authors why they like to write about billionaire heroes and she will be doing an article on the responses. She also wants readers to sound off and has a 7-question survey on surveymonkey. I took it already — you don’t have to provide an email or anything to take it, which is cool. Survey is supposed to remain up until at least September 23d. So, if you have just a couple of minutes, be heard! :D

Chasing Crazy for September

Some readers watched the word count on His to Cherish grow in August and the first week of September in a writing challenge (Chasing Crazy) to reach 100k words written in a month. Wow, did I not succeed! :D I came out at 30k+ words written. Well, I’m giving it another go and I will Chase Crazy this month on Alpha Curves, Love Broken, Montana Whispers and a few others.

In addition to all the great company I had with readers participating, a few authors chased crazy with me and I wanted to thank them with a little pimpage for a new or recent title of theirs.

Maybe Fate by Cynthia Brint

No matter how you fight, fate still comes knocking.
But what happens when you rebel against it?

When I felt someone watching me, I knew something was wrong. I’m not the kind of girl who gets a lot of attention. I don’t want you to think I’m paranoid, or crazy. Definitely not crazy. That night, I got my first glimpse of something that should never have existed. I met someone who would change my life, change my everything. Someone with wicked smiles and a voice like sugar mixed with cinnamon.

Someone not entirely human.

Maybe Fate is a full-length 350 page New Adult Paranormal Romance. It focuses on the wonder of destiny, the beauty of love, and the way it sweeps us up with unstoppable, hungry claws.

Dance for Me by Helena Newbury

Natasha is one of the most promising ballet dancers at the prestigious Fenbrook Academy of Performing Arts and she’s just landed a life-changing audition. But no one knows the guilt she carries…or the damage it makes her inflict on herself when she’s alone.

Darrell is a multi-millionaire designer at 25. But past traumas have pushed him into isolation and the intense pressure of his work has brought him to the edge of burnout. Seeking inspiration, he sees Natasha dance and hires her as his muse.

As she dances for him, the two become entwined in a passionate but troubled relationship. He starts to see the pain inside her and helps her gradually lower her defenses…but Darrell has demons of his own. Can two broken people save each other? Or will the darkness they’re hiding consume them both?

Halfway Home

August 19th was my last Cytoxan/Adriamycin infusion. That means I’m halfway done with chemotherapy. The next four infusions will be with Taxol, the first one on September 9th. Conventional wisdom is that Taxol will be at least slightly easier on me than C/A was. That would be awesome because C/A hasn’t been that bad, the unpleasant side effects having been mostly limited to fatigue and about 7-10 days every week during which my tastebuds go on vacation and everything is as appealing as Elmer’s glue. (I don’t even view the baldness as bad. I usually don’t wear any wig or cap/etc., and I frequently forget when I’m out that I don’t have any hair and have a good laugh on myself when something happens that reminds me.)

  1. Rachel Haueter (@Queen_Spaz) says:

I had been neurotically checking all my social media and almost right after you posted on Twitter I did a swan dive for my Kindle lol.

Wanted to smack the crap out of both of them sometimes, but I think Mia did a fabulous job making Collin sweat. Few twists I didn’t see coming and I like that.

I do believe I was right about my “lightbulb” moment involving Kessa.

Are you considering a spin-off for the adorable Deputy?

    • :D If you mean I would like to do a Kane + Kessa story, yes. And double yes on Gillie. I was getting a bit of a crush on him myself.

      • Rachel Haueter (@Queen_Spaz) says:

Lol I had a feeling the Kane and Kessa story was coming. That was my lightbulb moment.

And yeah, I feel kinda bad for Gillie, he needs some lovins too.

      • Here is a question for you: Obviously Kane is into the lifestyle, but would you put him as a top or a bottom? I got the feeling that Kessa was a Domina and Kane was her sub… Would you ever write such a pairing? And ‘Hell Yea’ for Gillie ~ he was a hot buttered biscuit all right!

        • Excellent question! I already can’t remember whether there was any line in Collin’s POV that Kessa was as much body guard as secretary. I’m thinking of her as something like a blonde Ziva (for any NCSI fans :D ). But what she does on the field of combat isn’t necessarily what she likes in bed — given the right male. But, then again, there could be a pegging scene in Kane’s future. Who knows : grin : (Generally, although I’ve wanted to do a short called Pegging Alpha for quite a while, the market won’t really tolerate it and I have insane tuition to pay for my son’s last year of undergrad, so … hmmm … :D )

  2. Do the bundles have the ‘new’ pov scenes?

If anyone could do a ‘pegging alpha’ fic and have it come off hot for hetro-fangirls I bet you could!

    • Hi, Amy!

Undeniably His (Smoke & Curves) has everything in it. Spanking Grace (Curves for Two) is still newsletter only.

You’ve thrown down the gauntlet, now I must do a pegging alpha!
